Site updates

Just to let everyone out there know that the site updates have stopped, in case you had not noticed :-) ,as the website is being redesigned. Hopefully the new website will be up and running during the course of September... this year. All new items are currently being added to the updated website and a final migration of the existing data has also started.

Once again thanks for supporting and viewing the website.

Space Quest Classic Collection under Linux

Recently I purchased the Space Quest Classic Collection and decided to try and see which versions where supplied on the CD. I also wanted to play them using DosBox under Linux. Once I had mounted the CD I assumed that the files for the various Space Quest games were stored in data1.cab based on the size of the .cab file. To extract the contents install unshield, this can be done via apt on Ubuntu, and then run the following command:

unshield x data1.cab

This will extract several files and directories. The ones we are interested in are the files1 through files6 directories since these correspond to the Space Quest series. files1 is Space Quest 1 and so on. Use DosBox , also available via apt, and mount the directory containing the files1 to files7 directory. If you are unsure of how to do this check the DosBox help files. Hope this helps. Althought I have not tried I assume that the same would be true for the other Classic Collections, Leisure Suit Larry, Kings and Police Quest.
